Our Community

HISTORY

Steeplechase Farms (SCF) is a community of 174 homes built by different builders such as Perry Hood, Mike Fritz, Darrell Jenkins and Classic.  The subdivision was developed in three separate phases between 1997-2002.

The SCF Home Owners Association was established on April 25th, 1997.  The incorporation was certified as a non-profit by the Secretary of State of Oklahoma on April 30th, 1997.  The corporation's purpose is to provide for the development, maintenance, improvement and preservation of common property of the residents.  It was also to promote and develop the common good, health, safety and social welfare of all residents of the Properties.

In 2004, the City of Broken Arrow annexed the Steeplechase Farms subdivision along with other subdivisions in the area.  This provided the entire neighborhood with access to all city related services including Trash, Street maintenance, Stormwater management and Emergency Services.

Spring storms in May of 2006 brought record breaking rains which caused flooding issues in many area subdivisions including Steeplechase Farms.  The City of Broken Arrow began efforts in 2007 to make improvements to stormwater detention ponds and sewer changes in the vicinity.  These changes however were only partial solutions and the city then began planning for a more long-term solution.

On December 2nd, 2008, the Broken Arrow city Council passed a resolution establishing a stormwater assessment district for Steeplechase Farms and Amended Glen Eagles subdivisions.  This was based on the city choosing to provide enhancements to the existing storm sewer system instead of the more costly option of a complete replacement of the storm sewer system.  The result was an Amended Public Improvement Assessment Roll which levied liens against each home property to pay for the construction materials while the city paid for the cost of labor and equipment.
